Inbound = Crickets
This could be the reason your inbound doesn't work.
I hear a lot of people complaining that inbound does not work.
And yes, it does not work if you build a LinkedIn profile, put a lead magnet next to it, maybe start a newsletter, and expect people to come to you.
You built a one-time system.
But being an obvious choice for your potential clients is another thing.
Think of Coca-Cola or Pepsi.
You see their billboards while driving. You hear about them on the radio. You see their stickers on refrigerators, posters outside shops, bottles in restaurants and their colours everywhere.
Most of these things are not even clickable.
But when you go to a store to buy a cold drink, picking Coca-Cola or Pepsi feels natural.
You think you made that decision inside the store.
But they designed the environment in which you made that decision.
I think the same is true for inbound.
Your LinkedIn profile is one cue.
Then they see your post, your comment under someone else’s post, your newsletter, your lead magnet, or someone mentions your name.
They keep seeing you in different places.
Not once. Repeatedly.
The more they see you, the more familiar you become. They start liking you and trusting you.
Then, when they need what you do, picking you feels like their decision.
Unless you are where your people are, repeatedly, inbound will not work for you.
You have to design the environment in which they pick you.
That is how I see inbound.
FYI: My inbound quiz sits right next to my LinkedIn profile: imrank.scoreapp.com
It gets me dozens of leads when I am actively designing my environment.
But the same inbound system gets me crickets when I don’t post for weeks or comment for months.
